MRS. CHAMPLIN, GAREN PRAIRIE, DIED SUNDAY

Mrs. Carrie Belle CHAMPLIN, 72, Garden Prairie, a resident of the vicinity her entire life, died Sunday morning about 3:10 in St. Joseph’s hospital after a two-week illness. A complication of diseases was blamed for her death.

Arrangements for the funeral are not complete, pending word from a son, Maurice E. CHAMPLIN, of California. Last rites will be held in the Methodist church in Garden Prairie with the pastor, the Rev. Warren J. Baumgarner in charge, although the day and hour for the services have not been set. Burial will be in the Garden Prairie cemetery.

The body is at the Atkins-Johnson Funeral home, where friends may call.

Mrs. CHAMPLIN was the former Carrie Belle MERRIMAN, born March 5, 1873 in McHenry county to Mrs. And Mrs. S. E. MERRIMAN.

She was educated in the Garden Prairie school.

She became the bride of George A. CHAMPLIN July 17, 1895 in Beloit, Wis. He survives her with two sons and two daughters. They are Oscar of Wetonka, SD, Maurice of Oakland, Cal., and Mrs. Doris STUART of of St. Charles and Mrs. Evelyn VINCENT of Elgin. Also surviving are two sisters, Miss Fannie MERRIMAN of Dixon and Mrs. Elmer HYDE of Garden Prairie, and 13 grandchildren. Her parents and two sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. CHAMPLIN was prominent in the community life of the Garden Prairie vicinity, a member of the Methodist church there and an active worker in its Ladies Aid society.

Mr. and Mrs. CHAMPLIN celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last July 17.
