Obituary of
Mrs. Fred Sever
Republican Northwestern Newspaper, Boone county, IL February 4, 1919
FUNERAL OF MRS. SEVER
The funeral services for Mrs. Fred SEVER were held Wednesday afternoon at 2
o’clock at the family home, 615 Pearl street, and attended by many
friends.
Rev. Garth Sibbald rector or Trinity Episcopal church, conducted the services. The bearers were: Cornelius DWYER, Ray CUNNINGHAM, Geo. COVEY, R.G. LAWER, Clarence WOODS and Alva JORDAN.
There were many tributes of beautiful flowers. The burial was in the Belvidere cemetery.
The Rev. Mr. Sibbald based his remarks on the words, “Bear ye one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.” He said: “We who are here this afternoon, are relatives or friends and neighbors of Mrs. SEVER. We are here to show our friendship and love fro a Christian woman. We are affected by here departure from the family, from the brotherhood, from the neighborhood. ‘None of us liveth to himself and no man dieth to himself.’ The spirit of neighborliness has been disturbed. One half of the Christian religion is love of God, and the other half is love of God, and the other half is love of neighbors.” He concluded by saying: “Mrs. SEVER was a good neighbor, because she showed mercy on those around here. Forgetful of herself, she gave her life for others, and left us a beautiful example of sacrifice and services.”
Mrs. SEVER was a member of the Congregational church and active in church work, especially in the missionary and aid societies. She was beloved and esteemed in a wide circle of friends.
